Santa Fe Hospital was located right downtown near MacArthur Park, I believe on Soto Street. My dad was taken there by Ambulance from Barstow in the 50's on two occasions after mild heart attacks.

The Espee Hospital in San Fran was out on Golden Gate Park. Santa Fe employees went there in latter years as well. My father-in-law, who was Santa Fe Chief Boat Dispatcher at 44 4th Street, spent time there after an illness. Not sure about the details of the reciprocal agreement, but there was one.
