The 2472 is not in danger of getting scrapped. Being a long time PLA member I can tell you that there are a couple of people with poor senses of humor at Brightside that will say dumb things like that. Every organization has them. But add a little bit of common sense and you will see that they are blowing hot air. The PLA exists as a preservation group. We don't let valuable pieces of historic equipment get cut up when under our care. The GGRM was invited to move their collection to Niles Canyon to help them preserve it while they look for a new home. Their stuff will not be cut up for track space. As noted in a previous post, the 2472's latest rebuild is complete and there are plans being generated to do some operations on the NCRY. Keep an ear out for announcements as to when they happen.

By the way, speaking of preventing scrapping something historic, the PLA has an underframe for a Santa Fe reefer built around 1900 that we are trying to find a new home for. We will give it away for free to a new home. Any takers?
