Today's krem.com has video and photos of the tugs clearing ice. Hope I can get my own photos of the log tows this spring. For those who don't understand the historical significance, logs have been towed across Lake Coeur d'Alene to the various mills that once dotted the shoreline at Coeur d'Alene, and further west along the Spokane River, for about as long as trains have been running to CdA. The four branches that once served CdA are now down to one. After Stimson closes its former DeArmond mill in CdA within the next year or so, BNSF will stop running to CdA. And so will the log tows (or booms or brailles or whatever you want to call them).
