Oh but its on the way... The former Alameda NAS is getting upwards of 2,000 units of dense housing and another section of the city not far away is adding a thousand more... if just for using the island as an entry point it would still be useful as a avoidance of the bottle neck that is between West Oakland Station, 12th Street Station and Lake Merritt Station.
