Democrats are way too loyalist even when it means giving up their freedoms.

Republicans (and/or Libertarians) are not very loyal, choosing instead to vote with the power knowledge. Knowing that party affiliation does not always matter.

Although theses days I think more Kalifornians these days lean more toward libertarian but are often looped into the tea party category by hate monger intolerant Liberals
