I accept Neil's statement as more valid than mine.

What I meant was that when I had blown up the picture 4x or 5x (to 400% or 500%) I saw the two lines extending to the left from below the front of the car as being two rails of the same track, rather than the foreground and background tracks at at a crossing. This than made the track running to the right seem to be a branch rather than a crossing track.

It may be that the two photos on his FB page represent the same view a few year apart.
