Before you (like some others quoted in the article) start screaming about how horribly expensive that is, think about:

* What's the taxi fare for ONE PERSON from downtown. Note that they have affinity and other discounts per the article, that greatly reduce the per-person cost for families and airport workers - so the practice of adding a passenger or 2 in the taxi for the same or only slightly increased fare is covered. Would have been nice to have that bit of info in the article.
* What does Super Shuttle or whatever covers that service locally, or some kind of "Airporter" bus, charge for a similar trip? This is probably the most direct competition, and should have been described in the article.
* What does it cost to park at Pearson (including any toll booths along the line) for several days? Or even just one day, if you don't park in the remote lots? Would have been nice to THAT bit of info in the article!
* Canada in general wants its passenger trains to cover most of their operating cost. That's what this service is - a passenger train. It's not inner-city transit, and probably gets minimal subsidy (THAT information, if true or as modified, would have been nice to have in the article). How does the fare compare to GO Transit to the nearest station, plus bus connection from there?

What they charge in Newark is irrelevant. It's not Toronto.
