Never say never.....
I remember when Jim Mills got the San Diego Trolley going in 1976, and back then, folks talked about the system having little potential for more lines or future extensions, without bizillions in dinero.
Mission Valley is an example of fitting a pretty successful and reasonably priced segment into limited right of way. And, some of the bridging even allowed them to take advantage of right of way on slopes, which could not be developed for traditional uses. And, doesn't some of the right of way beyond Larkspur mimic those conditions?
I doubt that NWP freight is coming back to this segment, though. But, given the compressed density of population and employment "on the Bay" and adjacent to 101 south of Larkspur, it might make sense, depending on how much farther south you could get it....?
One seeking to maximize public benefits might be a bit more inclined to think that a better near term ferry connection would be a higher priority, than this possible extension.....in order to maximize near term ridership potential on the existing investment.
If one has to build any more "costly" bridges, wouldn't one to a direct almost "on dock" transfer make more sense? So what is the status of that? Has that ever been resolved?
