Brief history of Mexifornia:
1768-1804, part of Spain/Mexico as Provincia de las Californias (which also included Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, and parts of Oaklahoma and New Mexico).
1804-1848: Alta California, a province of Mexico, and the Californios felt short-changed by the goverment in Mexico City.
1830s-1840s: Anglos "infiltrated" and took over (the term "infiltration" sound familiar??) and made it part of the US in 1848.
1850-present: 31st State of the USofA.
Now for the Russian contingent 1732-1867: Alaska south to the Fort Ross area in what is now the northern part of California.
So, tovarisch, who's been in Mexifornia longer? The Spanish and Mexicans, the Russians, or the Anglos? (And never mind the poor "Indians", who were treated the worst by Father Junipero Serra and his organization).
