I hope I don't blow up this thread, but...

Speaking as someone who has ridden freights due to necessity and adventure:
Most of us who do so feel the same way you do about these idiots putting themselves in mortal danger, and the crews in emotional distress. (Actually, personally, I'm fine with them wiping their genes off the planet, but just don't it on the rails). The people I learned from drilled safety, responsibility, and respect into my head all the time:
If it looks like it can move, don't touch it (brake handwheels, stopcocks, etc)
Don't ride "suicide". (what our wetbrain star is doing here).
Ride sober.
3 points of contact, all the time.
And on and on.

Not expecting to change any minds, I just want to pop in and let it be known that this future dogmeat is in no way representative of most train riders.
