It wasn’t the railroad but the shipper that quit running the train out of Quincy. They were shipping fresh produce in refrigerated containers, but could not accept the long wait times that came with the recent railroad traffic congestion. Compost on the other hand isn’t exactly a time sensitive item (so to speak) so it could probably stand a few delays now and then.
One question I have is where in Eastern WA is the unloading facility going to be? Will it be a unit facility, or will individual cars be sent to different locations for unloading? Would be nice for one of the state owned short lines in this area to have a source of traffic that wasn’t tied to wheat production and it sups and downs.
