LAP was a component of 'New PE' which resulted from the consolidation of many properties in The Great Maerger, 1911. In 1908, PE started by Henry Huntington and I.W.Hellman with a line to Long Beach in 1902 was Red, LAP Green and there were other companies such as the Blue LA Interurban. Hellman sold his 50% share to Harriman , and in 1910 Harriman sent Paul Shoup to LA to wrap the whole thing into NPE, Huntington keeping the LA Ry narrow gage line, for the most part. In 1908 LAP bore little resemblance to PE in many ways
