Some reports say that the woman got out the car, waved, and then got back in. The article I linked to also mentioned that traffic off the main road was detouring through the crossing slowly and that might have caught her on the tracks due to lack of space in front of her to clear crossing. I wonder if there are quadrant gates there or what.
