The GGRM wanted to use the Cemex facility for storage back in 2011, but Cemex was not receptive. In 2012 the GGRM expressed interest in building a restoration facility in Santa Cruz, but I have not heard of anything since. I know of more than one group that has expressed interest in building a hotel and conference center where the Cemex Plant stands, but the cost of the cleanup in enormous. It could be 5 years before anything is decided and I hope the existing rail infrastructure is part of any future plans. If the cleanup burden is too great for Cemex they may decide to do nothing and put the property in caretaker status and use it for storage.
