Problem is, ATSF3751, most of the news media has decided that you and I are not entitled to know whether or not the "perp" who caused this train wreck is a legal U.S. citizen. News directors and copy editors of most uber-liberal publications and broadcasts are "spoon feeding" us only those tidbits of information that they feel we're entitled to know. Their manner of thinking is that if the general populace had any inkling of the percentage of crimes that are committed by illegal aliens (Yes, like the Santa Barbara News Press, I still have the courage to use that politically-incorrect title) we MIGHT vote into office certain politicians who take a hard stance toward illegal immigration. And, in 2015, we certainly can't have something like THAT. That might hurt people's feelings. That might lower people's self-esteem. That might work toward dividing families.
Juan Manuel Alvarez, the low-life who deliberately caused the Metrolink train wreck in Glendale on January 26, 2005, was not an illegal alien, but his mother was.(A.) He was an "anchor baby" who helped make sure she could remain here in the U.S.
Here's a wild fantasy: If we chose, as a society, to have a sovereign border with Mexico and had put a tight lid on illegal immigration, coupled with deporting those illegals who successfully sneaked across the border, and eliminated birthplace-citizenship to derail the whole perverted concept of "anchor babies.", there's a very good chance that Leticia Ayala and her despicable son Juan Alvarez would still be in Mexico where he/they could commit crimes on THAT side of the border rather than on THIS side. Try as they might, people thus far haven't figured out how to be in two places at once. If they're down THERE, they can't be up HERE.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the idiot who caused this latest train wreck is a legal citizen. Don't expect the Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press or CNBC to tell you. That information will ONLY come from conservative outlets such as the Santa Barbara News Press, Rush Limbaugh or through the John and Ken Show on local LA radio station KFI-AM. For the uninitiated, John and Ken are conservative talk show hosts and take a very hard view on illegal immigration (B.).
And the Santa Barbara News Press has recently paid a high price for having the courage to label illegal aliens what they actually are, rather than labels such as "people in the country without permission" or "undocumented workers." (C.)
Ultra liberals are civilized as long as you agree with them. If you don't agree with them, prepare to be boycotted or have your personal property vandalized. (D.)(E.)
