UM...duh...I understood that EsPee sold or leased their branch lines because UP wanted ONLY the I5 Corridor (Cascade Line) to get from Seattle to southern Cali without having to go through Hinkle and the long way around. Also what sweetened the pot was EsPee's control of the petrochemical traffic in Texas.

Us willing shortliners made it easy for the transition!
