Allyn Ford, the President of "Roseburg Forest Products", has requested permission to testify at the next hearing of the Surface Transportation Board next month in Washington DC.
The hearing will examine issues related to the "Common Carrier Obligation" of railroads.
In a letter dated March 11, Ford outlines the issues he would like to testify about and tells the STB Chairman Charles Nottingham that the service on the Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad has had ‘devastating impacts’ on the forest products industry.
Ford tells Nottingham he appreciates the opportunity to explain the consequences of CORP’s curtailments and ‘their apparent lack of interest in restoring service to the shippers’.
The Surface Transportation Board is the federal governing body for rail operations. Its next meeting is scheduled for April 24th.
