Not disputing whether you paid into it, but the rest of what you say is disinformation. Last time I checked, welfare and SSI are two different things, and if you unilaterally cut-off welfare, then be prepared for Watts riots and ISIS-like and Khmer Rouge-like movements right here in the US (unless that's what you want).
>You Assume Wrong! I am very much entitled to it!
Ahh the entitlement issue. "I've got mine, but you can't have yours." -- don't get me wrong, anyone who paid into the system is entitled to it.
>Unless the Feds will give every dime back (tax free) that I ever paid into it!
SSI contributions which have already been deducted from your takes can't be taxed when "they" pay them back to you. Not only that, in many states SSI and RRB pensions aren't taxed at all.
>and then I would take my chances with my savings and moving to a much cheaper area to retire
You know, the guy who rented the house next door did exactly this. When the Republican't type financial arbitragers film-flamed their financial hocus-pocus a few economic downturns back, he went bankrupt. If this happens to you, which is very likely unless you're some financial whiz-kid (doubtful -- I'm not either), then you'll be on that welfare, which you so dearly want to do away with.
Me, I took the cop-out route by having RRB (since the 1960s).
