I actually operated this locomotive back in 1978~ at the age of 14 when it was in Santa Ana, CA. A kid in the neighborhood's grandfather worked at the Holly Sugar plant an took us down there to shoot BB guns. He asked if wanted to operate the SW1, and we said "YES!". We took turn running it up and down 100 yards of track. This locomotive was the first diesel engine purchased by the Southern Pacific RR.
