This just shows how stupid the average low-information types are.
In general, it is more efficient to achieve top speed and maintain it to the end of the journey, rather than speeding up and slowing down. Where would the regenerative braking come into play other than station stops? Last I checked, Florida is flat. It's not like the old Milwaukee in the Bitterroot Mountains, where the regenerative braking could be practical in providing supplementary electricity to the system due to the long steady downhill grades.
Oh, and for what it's worth ..... Siemens' manufacturing plant isn't "solar powered:. It is inefficiently supplemented by solar power while it draws primarily from conventional generation sources, which only achieves a remarked decrease in the depreciation of those conventional assets as they end up wearing out at an accelerated rate due to constantly being ramped up and down to match the variations in solar (and wind).
