Is this implying that perhaps this is a dangerous neighborhood for a railfan to be wandering around alone? I have scared myself silly a couple of times in L.A. and Washington DC (big-time fright in DC) trying to check out the local RR scene.
Having never been there, it does appear somewhat gloomy, but "SFFreightHist" has done an OUTSTANDING job with the photography! I got a kick out of that hottie in the red outfit standing there all by herself. Nice train pictures, too.
These pictures sure do show the impact that freeways have on the landscape! And people have the gall to complain about the railroad's footprint.
