Thanks for the link! Kai Tak has always fascinated me.
St. Maartens is even better (or worse, depending on your
perspective). Jets fly so low over the beach you could
almost touch them! Now I like "aluminum overcast" as much
as any aviation buff, but -- St. Maartens is too much for
even me!
I did not know that landing at San Diego makes planes
fly that low. Fun for airplane buffs! (Gonna look for
some videos of that now.)
Ummm..... why would you think plane-spotters would
inevitably be bad pilots or airport employees?
The same could be said about us railfans -- that being
a railfan should automatically disqualify you from working
for a railroad. That is ridiculous. Why should loving a hobby
passionately make a person a poor employee in that field?
It all depends completely on the person.
