This past Tuesday I went to Watsonville to look at some commercial property I thought Iowa Pacific might be interested in. Afterwards I decided to drop by the SC&MB to see what was on their schedule.

When I arrived at the coach yard they were just getting ready to start MH 89.






Their first stop was to pick up an empty tank car at the biofuel plant to interchange at the UP yard.

Upon arrival at the biofuel plant I noticed all the local media were in attendance and there was a podium set up in front of the biofuel plant. It turned out that the Mayor of Watsonville and several City Council members held a news conference to announce a push to attract businesses from the Silicon Valley and San Francisco area.

Next they took the empty tank car over to the main between Ohlone Parkway and Lee Road to add it to the seven empty cars already there.
















This is the first time in a long time they have interchanged eight cars at once and I wanted to photograph them along Walker Street where I could stand back and capture the entire train. I decided that the Riverside Drive crossing would be best location.







It is getting to be that time of year again and it will not be long before refrigeration cars start arriving for Lineage Logistics and Del Mar Foods.
