Instant Rails to Trails?....

Silly me, I thought they were going to build a rail line:
" The California High-Speed Rail Authority has not yet selected a contractor to lay track and build electrical systems for the route."
So, a high speed dirt bike trail?
Sorry, for being so snarky. I just don't see this thing coming together in my lifetime, and I happen to work for one of the consultants...
Idle thought: The UP (ex SP) Fresno Line runs nice and straight down the valley. THAT alignment would make a great high speed route. I have travelled it on an AMTRAK detour.
Eminent domain anyone?
