BNSF Midtrain Helpers

Does anyone know when BNSF started running what seems to be very long trains with midtrain and rear end helpers (DPUs)? I have have seen two now in the last week outside of Clovis, NM. The trains looked like two complete stack trains. They both had three units on the point, two in the middle and two on the rear. They looked like a complete train of 40' or 20' double stacks.
