Interesting video. First off, they are running on the wrong side, just like they do on their highways or is that motorway. :)
Compared to the US semaphores, I have a hard time understanding their indications. Most of the blades hardly move more than a few degrees and I am guessing those are a red or green indication. Also, it looked like cables controlled them, not rods or motors. Anybody have any dope of how the work and what the indications mean ??
We do have to give the Brits something. They invented the first interlocking machine at Bricklayers Arms Junction in 1843. In 1856. The first one in the US was at Trenton, NJ in 1870, a Saxby-Farmer machine that was imported from England.
Guess they did something right back then but they still drive on the wrong side of the road :)
