"Residents along the Caltrain corridor may have their sleep interrupted this week as the commuter service runs a test train between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
It's part of a project to install a federally mandated signal system that aims to enforce speed limits, better protect railroad workers on the tracks and make grade crossings safer.
Various components of the system will be installed during the day and fiber-optic cables at night. The test train will run only at night to not conflict with commuter service.
The work should be completed by 5 p.m. Friday."
