"Moonlight Dome" is actually a Budd-built car. It is one of the three dome sleepers built in 1948 for the Chesapeake & Ohio "Chessie" streamliner. The B&O acquired the three cars in the early 1950s and used them on trains such as the "Capitol Limited" and the "Shenandoah".

These cars, along with the three dome-observations built for the "Chessie", had lower-profile domes with flat glass to fit inside the tighter loading gauge on the C&O.
