Seaward Tuthill authored and illustrated the story "Railfanning California Style" in the very first issue of Railfan, Winter 1974. And yes, PDX, it was all about the Santa Ana Group on one of their whirlwind tours of train action in and around the L.A./SoCal area. It's still a wonderful read. Exactly the kind of material that made Railfan what it was, what it was meant to be, back in the day.
