OT but related: Map of the U.S. Internet
Somebody has gone through many public records and assembled a map of the long-haul cables used for Internet service in the U.S. At least they think they have them all (are some DOD-related services hidden?). Anyway ... enjoy.

Considering the variety of companies that run these cables, it's possible that nobody has seen the complete picture before. It definitely does suggest some places where security and other vulnerabilities might exist. Among other things - one cable seems to follow the UP(SP) Coast Line, which in places is vulnerable to effects of sea level rise either directly or (via enhanced coastal erosion) indirectly.
