The dirt train shoves it's empties through a crossover switch off Main 1 and into the UP's yard. The new crew was waiting at SSF and once they were on board they immediately went to the north end of the yard and got back on the main to run down to Santa Clara.

Why do you think so much power? Was it perhaps partly a light engine moved shuttling these engines to Oakland or something?
