san diegan

longtime reader, firsttime poster. and i bought at least one copy of every alt tt published.

my question is: the santa fe stopped allowing amtrak use the names 'super chief', 'texas chief', and such because the quality of service was not up to standard. but the name 'san diegan' was continued until amtrak ditched it.

is this because the name is too generic, or the santa fe didnt care about this name?

thanks,
steve
