Grain can and is sold enroute to it’s initial destination, the grain could have been sold to someone in the South then enroute sold to somebody else with transshipment point like Tacoma. Was it pointing North? If so, it could be just waiting to head East then North back to Canada or perhaps straight North to Vancouver. I have seen in the last 6 months several CN grainers heading EB over Stampede behind my house. There may have been more that those that I saw, I don’t keep too close a watch.
