No activity at all in two years now, except the brush and trees keep getting taller, more copper is stripped from the equipment and facilities, and a little more rust sets in.
A new company (McCloud Partners) has purchased the sawmill and is redeveloping it, they want to get the railroad back in service to support their planned industries and would like to get passenger trains returned as well, but to date it sounds like their discussions with the railroad ownership have yet to progress very far. That's probably the best hope for a revival at the present moment.
I did note on my recent visit a new informational sign for the "Bob Gray Memorial Fuelbreak of the Northeast Mt. Shasta Fuel Reduction Project" has recently been erected near the Mt. Shasta Boulevard crossing, and it lists 4-Rails, Inc. (the Forbis family company that still owns all the real estate) as a working partner in the project...Bob Gray was a long-time employee of the U.S. Forest Service in McCloud who passed away a year or so ago, he married the daughter of a McCloud River Railroad shop employee. Bob was a fountain of knowledge and a popular guy in the McCloud community.
