Why is a "conductor" supposedly representing that era carrying an oil-burning lantern instead of a small electric lantern of the type issued specifically for passenger service?

And, a woman in the first class section of the Century in that era would have been dressed in a much fancier (conservative) fashion.

Still a great photo, though.
