With all the discussion (and dissing) of CP, they're still a Wall Street darling. 2nd highest P/E ratio of the Class 1s (after CN), though still below the transportation industry's average of over 20. In typical Wall Street measures, CP looks good otherwise too, with Earnings per Share of 6.15 (only UP & NS come close). EPS, of course, can be affected by extraordinary income and limited numbers of shares. And CP's dividend ratio of less than 1% indicates, relative to most railroads, a more speculative investment which goes with the high P/E. CN, though is the real speculative darling with a P/E over 17 and the 2nd lowest EPS of the Class 1s - wonder if there's some churning going on over there too? GWR, of course, is the pure play since it pays no dividends.
