Well I don't know any of these players and have no stake in this deal (I am just a foamer), but here is my view.
The person's announcement may not have been factually wrong. But it seems like bad luck to announce something before a deal has been signed off. Who knows, a premature announcement could even piss off the buyer and cause him to lose trust and back out. If you have some inside info, sometimes it's best to just hold your tongue (and ego), and let the public relations people write the press releases. I have been privy to a rail museum's plans in the past, but I never dared scoop the museum's leadership with my own public announcement. Yikes, that would take some nerve, eh?
Anyway, no ill will toward anyone.
