After I made the post above with the map, it occurred to me that Dan may have been referring to the Horseshoe Tunnel to the west of the Cascade Tunnel. Oops!


According to this page, [www.trailvolunteers.org]
the GN Horseshoe Tunnel made a 180-degree turn within the mountainside, with bridges on either end of the tunnel each adding more degrees to the loop.
