Considering a set of about 500 shocks (they are considering to name the magnitude 7 aftershock to be the main shock, and the initial 6.3 a pre-shock), with several ones magnitude 6 or higher, the damage to the roads is pretty bad.
The other day, JR Kyushu restarted some train service (not high-speed) to Kumamoto.
In Kumamoto, they are quickly re-establishing water and electricity, allowing many people in shelters going back home.
They say, however, that there are still risks for more aftershocks. They also say that 500 shocks is a very high number.
