RIP Mr. Fredrickson. I have all three of his books, also. Some great photos . One of my favorites is a detouring Olympian Hiawatha over Stampede Pass. Pulled by an NP steam locomotive, a Diesel, and a "dead" MILW electric locomotive. Incredible.
