The Baird Springs Road goes up Lynch Coulee. This is the area of the Trinidad Loop. The GN crossed here in 1892, later the line was lowered and a large fill was used to cross the coulee, as it is today. The higher line can be seen in several places form Baird Springs Rd. I am not aware of photos of these large early bridges, however, would like to see some.
During the GNRHS convention there will be three railfan trips up to this area. One is Saturday July 19th, then Monday the 21st and Wednesday the 23rd.
Yes you can join GNRHS at the convention, However, there is limited space on the trips and they could be full.
I suggest you go to www.gnrhs.org
Then to the FAQ section and select the join tab.
Next go to the convention section and all the information will be there. You can use the form to send in your registration and tour reservations. When you send in your registration, include a note that you just joined.
The convention hotel is the Red Lion in Wenatchee.
