Union Pacific lounge cars arrive at Fullerton Depot
The Southern California Railway Plaza Association has added two 1949 vintage Union Pacific lightweight, streamlined lounge cars to our twice-monthly free tours at the Fullerton Train Station house tracks.
UP 5001, a Lunch Counter-Diner-Lounge, and UP 6101, a Dormitory-Lounge, arrived on March 3, 2016 and should be open soon for tours.
SCRPA’s Railway Plaza Compound is open to visitors from 9 a.m. to noon on the first and third Saturdays each month.
Tours are provided by our Railroad Operations Committee (ROC) members, who are conserving the rolling stock to the condition while in service of their previous-owner railroads.
The display represents the three Class 1 railroads that served the Southern California region into the latter part of the 20th century:
1929 Santa Fe Cupola Steel Way Car
1942 Union Pacific Tall Cupola Steel caboose
1961 Southern Pacific Bay Window Steel Caboose
1949 Union Pacific 85-foot Streamlined Lunch Counter-Diner-Lounge built by American Car and Foundry
1949 Union Pacific 85-foot Streamlined Dormitory-Lounge built by American Car and Foundry
Reservations are not required.
