If you could go back in time for a day in the Bay Area to one day in history to watch trains and ride them, what year or day would it be and where would you go?
I would visit San Francisco waterfront during in 192- to catch State Belt in action. Then I would cross the Bay to visit the Oakland Mole. Then I would hop a ferry back to SF, jump on a ferry to Sausalito, ride to Mill Valley, and ride up the Mount Tam Scenic Railroad. That would bring me to about lunch, meatloaf on the ferry with a side of hashed potatoes and coffee and a biscuit washed down with sasparilla. While I was on the ferry I would write a letter to my grandparents warning them to sell all their stock before the depression came. Then I would get on a ferry to Alameda and watch the Alameda Belt Line working, then cross over to look at the WP and SP yards in Oakland.
