Why did this so-called reporter add the nonsense about tar sands? It sounds like pure "agitprop 101" aimed at riling up the well meaning, but ignorant and gullible greens, since the Monterey basin would provide more than enough oil....for a very long time. This is also reportedly way better quality crude than tar-sands crude.

I am not a disbeliever in global warming from excessive human caused carbon emissions, but there are factions that seem to need to use emotion and fear to push their agenda without much regard to the facts or good science....kind of like the folks using the same dubious tactics to manipulate the other end of the political spectrum.
