One of the rare hot days in British Columbia invoking the use of the open-door air conditioner. One BCR employee saw our California license plate and joked about us bringing our weather with us. I told him it was probably thirty degrees colder in San Francisco at that moment!

Mechanical Superintendent Fred Olson and an unknown machinist show no signs of weakening morale with the impending Canadian National takeover now less than a month away. Unrestricted photographic access to the Squamish Shops complete with smiles, souvenirs (official and unofficial) and offers of firing up a C36-7 -for us to operate around the yard- were the order of the day. we politely turned down the offer of playing with their C36-7 in order to insure we didn't miss this northbound NVPG-17 already departing Squamish:
