A two week notice to the 4449 crew to get ready and plan out getting the locomotive to Denver would be really short notice. I do believe however Doyle and crew could pull it off if requested by UP. You would have figured since UP advertised steam power to pull their highlight passenger train of the year that they would have had a plan B in place should 844 not be able to do the trip?? 4449 would be the logical backup locomotive to pull the train and if they thought it through they would have the 49 and crew on standby to dead head to Denver if necessary. Hope for the best for 844 if they are going to operate her on the train, just sure hope they have most the issues worked out but time is definitely not their side.
