How different..the first Sierra RR fan trip in Sept of 1937 was only the 2nd fan trip in Nor cal..(first was NCNG May 37...) but what a difference.. $4.50 bot your ticket and the AT&SF train with open observation car started from Oakland Pier.. and met the SIERRA open vestibule wooden cars at Oakdale(including the short "Aagels Camp" combo which had movie lettering...I think it was C&G . Incidentally, .. The 3rd fan trip in Oct 37 met the LA fans in SLO both using the new DAYLIGHTS on the going part..with spl train with lounge car..going back north.. PCRR took us to the old Port of SLO..with fans sitting on top of the cars including the old Santa Maria trolley car.. and decorating the pilot of the steamer..(which chased a rabbit for some distance before it realized the importance of getting out of the middle of the track.. Indeed, times have changed..
