In most other systems, Siemens cars seem to last forever (certain add-ons like a/c in older models notwithstanding) regardless of the ministrations of the mechanics. Perhaps Siemens builds them a bit better, perhaps they provide useful training, perhaps they provide long-term parts support so local hacks aren't necessary to keep orphans running. Whatever it is, they seem to work.
