EMD is not being "rebranded". The corporate identity of the various Electro Motive subsidiaries of Progress Rail are undergoing CORPORATE name changes. Corporate names and the brands these corporations produce are often two different things.

According to the Progress Rail news release;

•Electro-Motive Diesel Inc. will become Progress Rail Locomotive Inc.
•Electro-Motive Canada Co. will become Progress Rail Locomotive Canada Co.
•Electro-Motive Diesel International Corp. will become Progress Rail Locomotive International Corp.

Progress Rail says the company will keep the EMD logo on the EMD locomotives and engines it sells and that there would be no changes to the current management structure at EMD.
