Bill, the North Fork Branch starts and Grand Junction and goes to the mines. The Montrose Branch starts at Delta. I am not sure if this is how it was in the past, but that is how UP designates it now. They reworked the track a few years ago so that the main route is towards the coal mines and not south to Montrose.
